Plants that help keep the mosquitoes away!

by The Underwood Team

Thank goodness for all the rain Midland has received lately. Only downfall is when the rain comes, so do all the mosquitoes.
We have done some research and found a couple of plants that help repel mosquitoes and that will last in our west Texas climate.

Lavender
Mosquitoes hate the pleasant scent of lavender and stay clear of it.
It is best in a pot by your front door, window, or entertainment area in your backyard.

Citronella
This one is a given, theres candles sprays, essential oils, and much more, but as a plant its great! Pretty and big and can withstand summers stress. They grow to be pretty large so they are also great for privacy.

Geraniums
If you want a little more color and more flowers to repel the mosquitoes, go with geraniums. They get the job done just as well but are very attractive and if taken care of properly will repel the mosquitoes just the same.

A couple more tips to keep mosquitoes out is to make sure to drain all objects in your yard that can hold water in it. Mosquitoes live and breed in the shallow muggy waters so be sure to drain or cover or drain any pots, bird baths, kiddie pools, before and after rain.

What to do to get your Home ready for The Spring Market!

by The Underwood Team

What to do to get your home Ready for The Spring Market!

It is very important to stage your home before putting it on the market in order to attract the best most qualified buyer! Here are a couple of tips that will help insure a smooth listing process.

         Spring clean!

-Think hotel, minimal personal items .

                        -Deep clean your home

-Consider a fresh coat of paint

                        -New Screens on the windows

                        -Clean / replace grout

                        -Get your carpets shampooed

           Yard!

-It is the first thing potential buyers see! You want to stage it as “appealing and easy to maintain.”

                        -Mow your lawn

                        -Fix the sprinkler system

(Future buyers are going to want it fixed anyway)

-Trim all over grown bushes trees etc.

                        -Change your welcome mat

                        -Paint /Clean your front door

                        -Plant annuals in your flowerbeds

                        - Make sure your porch light works

                        -Sweep/pressure wash your front porch

Don’t forget the backyard! Tidy up, mow, trim, pressure wash porch/patio.

              Pack up!

-You are going to move, so the best thing to do is get a head start! Pack winter clothes, holiday décor, and extras, (towels, linens, and all the things you don’t use everyday.)

Maintenance

-Check your home and ask yourself, if I was buying this home (again,) what would I want fixed?

            -Check Leaky faucets

            -Loose doorknobs, doors, hardware, etc.

            -Replace burnt out bulbs

            -Replace ripped window screens

            -Holes, paint scuffs, etc.

Midland, Texas has a very low inventory and with all the hungry new buyers coming in, it is very important to get your home ready to the best of your abilities. You want to make sure to attract the most qualified buyer for your home possible. Remember when you first bought your home…think of all the things you were thinking when you walked in to your present home and how it made you feel. Keep it simple.
