Midland County Judge Mike Bradford brought up the situation of banning fireworks and said that the circumstances aren't there to restrict the use or sale of fireworks. The last time Midland County was able to use or purchase fireworks was in 2010. the ranking on The Keetch-Byram Drought Index or KBDI for short must be greater than a 575 and as of Monday Midland County scored a 456. If for any reason come Friday the score becomes greater the court can ban certain fireworks such as rockets with sticks and missiles with fins. But more than likely Midland will be able to pop colors into the night starting June 24th.  We advise that even though there is no burn ban for this years fourth of July to please use every precaution  while using the fireworks. If shooting in Midland County, you must be on your own property and are not allowed to pop fireworks on the road, or be launched within 5000 feet of city limits.  So have fun and be safe Midland Texas!
